ORGANIZE A DRIVE

TIPS FOR ORGANIZING A COLLECTION FOR THE PANTRY

  1. Plan your drive:
    • What will you collect? (See suggestions below)
    • Where will you collect the items?
    • How will you promote the drive?
    • How long will the drive last?

  2. Promote your drive through posters, flyers, emails, social media, and word of mouth. Be creative with a name and send reminders!

  3. Collect the items: at a central drop-off point, from people's doorsteps, at a supermarket, etc.

YES: non-perishable foods that are staples in any pantry (peanut butter, mac & cheese, spices, tuna, cereals, etc), diapers, toiletries, new socks, new underwear, seasonal clothing

NO: expired food items, glass jars, ripped or torn clothing

  4. Check expiration dates and discard any expired food. We cannot give away any expired items. Check clothing to make sure there are no stains, holes, or visible wear.

Visit this website to find out more about clothing donation guidelines.

  5. Sort the items by type into separate labeled bags or boxes.

  6. Deliver your drive to the pantry, after confirming drop-off time with pantry staff ahead of time, hnfpdirector@gmail.com
